Chief Minister says toilet tax is unavoidable

The public needs to understand the financial challenges facing government.

That's according to the Chief Minister, who says a controversial new 'toilet tax' is regrettable but has to be introduced.

Allan Bell came under fire last week for not attending a public meeting in Peel on the new £50 levy.

This week, Tynwald will vote on whether or not to go ahead with the Water and Sewerage Authority's plan.

Mr Bell says measures like this will help to prevent government from potential serious financial crisis over the next five years:
