Politicians told to zip it in Tynwald

The July sitting of Tynwald will experiment with a new format that will see a time cap put on politician's speeches.

It's after members passed a motion put forward by the bishop.

Bishop Robert Paterson said the idea came to him following a long debate in Tynwald on the topic of bin wagons.

Members will have a limit of 20 minutes for a statement, 15 minutes for a motion, 10 to put forward an amendment and just five minutes to respond to a supplementary question.

The motion wasn't without its detractors - with South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft branding the experiment badly timed:
