Cash injection will secure future of Meat Plant

A £1.6 million cash injection for the Island's Meat Plant will ensure its long term operation.

That's the message from its chief executive after Tynwald approved the spend this week.

Refurbishing the plant will cost over £2 million in total - with the money to be spent on upgrading and refurbishing existing equipment.

Without the overhaul the plant would had to have close by the end of the year, as certain aspects of the equipment would no longer be legal to run.
