Archery Report

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday for the final shoot of the Indoor season; a Portsmouth round shot as part of the Club’s Handicap League. Several archers elected to shoot for the whole day and no fewer than three Club Records were broken in the process.

Joseph Reaney , going from strength to strength, added a hundred points to his pb for the round and took first place after adjustment for handicap. The next three archers were separated by just two points after handicapping. Dave Moore shooting just one point below his pb, secured second place from Karen Lott, while Barbara Harris had to settle for fourth.

Karen Lott shot all day in an attempt to break the Ladies Recurve Club Record for the Double Portsmouth. With her form this season the outcome was never in doubt, and Lott broke the old record with six arrows to spare. Her final score was 61 points higher than the previous record.

Whilst Karen made a deliberate assault on a record two other people broke records in their division without knowing it. Dave Moore broke the Gents Compound Double Portsmouth record by 19 points and Bradley Layton obliterated the Junior Gents Record. The record fell with 18 arrows still to shoot and Bradley’s final score was 155 points higher than the previous record. It was a terrific end to the season.
