Commemorative poppy taking shape in Douglas

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

Work on a giant poppy to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War is progressing well.

Douglas Council is creating the feature on Douglas Head - 4,000 red geraniums are being planted along with thousands of poppy seeds.

It should be ready in time for August - to mark the time war broke out in 1914.

The poppy will also have the poem 'For the Fallen' by Laurence Binyon placed at the top and bottom of the design.
