Protect rivers or lose tourists says Minister

The Island's rivers need to be better protected.

That's the message from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture with pollution levels seeing a spike in the last year - with one serious incident and 27 minor.

The department is keen to address the issue which can be heightened by close-by industrial estates and farms.

Minister Phil Gawne says the problem could deter people from visiting the Island on fishing trips:
