Public urged to be wary of scam e-mails

E-mails have been sent to a number of Manx-based accounts purporting to be from the Isle of Man Government.

Recipients have been encouraged to retrieve a message by logging on to a specific address - which isn't a legitimate website.

Known as 'phishing' the process aims to take people to sites that look legitimate to harvest their identities and passwords.

Government is asking people to be careful about giving away personal details - Mike Ball is chief officer of the Office of Fair Trading he says these criminals are intelligent:
