No funding guarantee for future Douglas prom works

Tynwald will be asked to approve over £1 million for the next phase of development work on Douglas Promenade.

The Department of Infrastructure will ask for the money later this month to enable it to start work between the Bottleneck and Regent Street in September.

Work would include reconstructing the highways and footways - project manager Jim Davidson says progress would also be made on moving the horse tram tracks.

If approval is granted for the money the works are expected to take 30 weeks to complete - finishing in March next year.

However Jim says there is still no guarantee the whole promenade will be made over:
