Prom works won't hinder potential sea defence improvements

The next phase of the promenade refurbishment will not put a stop to any necessary works to improve sea defences.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran tabled a motion to delay approval being granted for the £1.3 million spend in order for a full flood risk assessment to be carried out.

It was unsuccessful and phase two will commence in September taking an estimated eight months.

Infrastructure member John Houghton made assurances that the scheme won't hinder such works being carried out if need be at the same time:
