Meetings will allay concerns over police cuts says Minister

Reassuring the public over cuts to neighbourhood policing is a top priority for the Department of Home Affairs.

Last night the first in a series of public meetings was held in Douglas - they've been organised by the Police Consultative Forum.

The next meeting is being held on Thursday at 7pm in Castletown and will cover the southern division.

The department is undergoing radical reorganisation to meet budget challenges - this includes the closure of two stations, fewer officers and changes to the way officers are tasked. 

Minister Juan Watterson says he can understand people's worries and is encouraging them to share their views:
