Rider loses life in MGP Qualifying

A Rider has died during last night's MGP Qualifying Session.

39 year old, Stephen McIlvenna, from Randalstown in Northern Ireland lost his life in an incident at the Mountain Mile.

MGP Organisers say that McIlvenna was an experienced racer who first competed in the Manx Grand Prix in 2005. He won the 2009 Junior Manx Grand Prix. He also competed in the TT Races in 2010.

An investigation in to the cause has been launched.

Manx Police had the section closed for a number of hours follwoing racing yesterday evening.
