Poor August brings down average summer temperature

Meteorologically speaking we have now left summer behind and are moving into autumn.

It was a mixed bag for weather during the three main summer months, with some adverse conditions throughout August meaning the average temperature built up in June and July dropped.

Met Office Forecaster Andrew Boltby cited the cool conditions and high winds throughout last month for levelling out the average summer temperatures.

Addressing the rumours that we're in for an 'Indian Summer' Andrew said conditions for the next week are certainly promising, and there are currently no indicators that things will change in the near future:
