Man denies having offensive weapon after parking dispute

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

A Castletown man accused of wielding a metal bat after a parking dispute has denied the charge against him and had his case adjourned.

39-year-old man pleaded not guilty to one charge of possessing an offensive weapon at Douglas Courthouse yesterday.

It's claimed he was involved in an altercation outside his home in the town on August 29th after a disagreement with where his neighbour's partner had parked his car.

He Allegedly told the man - "Don't mess with a Columbian".

His advocate told the court the issue now centres on whether or not he was in a public place at the time.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes bailed him until a pre-trial review on November 4th, changing his condition of residence so he can now return to live at his home address.
