New League format agreed at the Isle of Man Rifle Association AGM

At the Annual General Meeting of the Isle of Man Rifle Association on Tuesday, it was agreed to operate the league in a slightly different format to previous years. This will involve each of the eight teams shooting on a Monday evening, three times during the winter months, meaning that the following year the fixture list will reverse. There are significant reasoning’s behind this move and these are to enable more shooting during the season, enabling a more competitive Indoor League and to advance and enhance indoor shooting generally. Several comments were raised from some of those present regarding the proposal but in general, the proposal has been warmly welcomed and was approved by a majority of those in attendance.

Dates for your Diaries

Monday, October 6th will see the start of the 2014/15 winter indoor league in the format mentioned above with Cossacks hosting Kirk Michael, Castletown travelling to Sinclair Range to compete against IoMSC Douglas, Laxey host Sulby and IoMSC Sandsiders go south to Port St Mary.

Wednesday October 8th is the evening for two Isle of Man Rifle Association competitions, The Veterans Cup and The Oake Memorial Trophy. The venue has not yet been decided but hopefully I will be able to let you all know in next week’s column. Please support these competitions as the entry fees are a valuable source of the Isle of Man Rifle Association funding.
