People asked to fill shoeboxes for the needy

The Manx community is being urged to support this year's Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.

The initiative is run by the Samaritan's Purse - last year 2,700 shoeboxes from the Isle of Man were sent to children in Zimbabwe.

Those who want to help are being asked to fill a box with small gifts and toys - this will then be sent to underprivileged children around the world.

Organiser Marlene Akitt told us what sort of things you can fill the boxes with:
