Over 80 people attend debate on Chief Minister election

'Should the Chief Minister be publicly elected?' That was the subject of a debate attended by over 80 people last night.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan argued for the introduction of a publicly elected Chief and Rushen MHK Juan Watterson argued against it at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas. 

Professor Hugh Davidson - who commissioned the 'Manx People Power' Independent Survey - reminded attendees that 63 per cent favoured the change in 2011.

Roger Tomlinson is from the Positive Action Group - he says the organisation is determined to keep the subject firmly on the agenda:
