Railways are too heavily subsidised admits Minister

Taxpayers' investment in the new Dining Car on the Steam Railway should generate appropriate returns.

Current forecasts show the moving restaurant is due to bring in £54,000 in income for this financial year - around £4,000 above target.

Onchan MHK Zac Hall questioned how much the railways were contributing after £225,000 of government money was spent restoring the train.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne admits the subsidy of the railways is currently too high:
