People asked to help stop festive crime spike

Police are urging the public to do their bit to combat a festive crime spike.

It follows a number of burglaries around the Island - including one on Christmas Day.

Someone broke into a house on Primose Avenue in Douglas stealing a number of Christmas presents.

Officers say new gifts should be kept under wraps - particularly bikes and items that are stored outdoors.

Revellers out enjoying the festivities are also being reminded that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated - inspector Derek Flint has this message:
