Police change approach to social media after burglary spike

Police have changed their approach to social media in an effort to combat the Island's current burglary problem.

After previously criticising speculation which appeared on the popular 'Isle of Man BreakIns' group on Facebook - officers have now joined it.

Since January 9th there have been 37 burglaries or attempted burglaries - suspected offenders have escaped police chase three times. 

Inspector Derek Flint, who is now posting verified updates to members of the group, says says officers remain determined to catch those responsible:
