Taxis will have to pay for airport permits

Taxi operators are set to be hit with a hefty fare for picking up people from the airport.

The Department of Infrastructure wants to change the taxi rank charges at Ronaldsway - in an effort to generate £40,000.  

New proposals will see ply-for-hire taxis operating on a pre-paid permit system costing around £1,000 a year.

In addition pre-booked taxis will be required to use a short stay "taxi park" and will be charged £1 an hour whilst waiting to pick up passengers.
