Concerns UK care contract is damaging for Island

Outsourcing care services to a UK provider could damage the home care profession on the Isle of Man.

That's the warning from North Douglas MHK John Houghton who is concerned about the appointment of a potential new in-house care company.

Government wants to award the contract to Human Support Group which currently provides 25,000 hours of community based support each week.

The Department of Health and Social Care says it's looked at social value and value for money in a "robust" procurement process.
