Only a small number of matches played in the leagues this week.  The win for Celton Fencibles C means they have secured the mixed league five title.

League 1

Doehle Corporate Selborne C 13 Celtic Gold Peel A 4

 

Good friendly match, final score flattered Selborne a little. Selborne's Raymond Gawne and Hameed Sulthan won second mens 21/12 21/9 against Liam Reynolds and Bahrat Chhetri. Sue Richardson and Sue Young took second womens 21/17 21/17 against Peel’s Gillian Craine and Chantal McLean. First men's saw Selborne’s Ray McMullen and Ean Crellin beat Stuart Gell and Darren Irving 21/19 21/16, however Peel got their first points when Rachael Golby and Alison Craine won 16/21 21/11 21/13 against Gill Young and Fe Gawne at first womens.  Gawne  and Sue Young won 21/15 21/18 at fourth mixed versus Peel’s Reynolds and Gillian Craine.  At third mixed Selborne’s Sulthan and Richardson beat Chhetri and McLean 24/22 21/10, and at second Selborne’s Crellin and Fe Gawne won 21/19 21/13 against Irving and Golby. Peel's only win in the mixed was at first where Gell and Alison Craine won 21/8 21/19.  They strolled the first game before McMullen and Gill Young woke up and narrowly lost the second in possibly the game of the match. League 5

 

Celton Fencibles C 14 CuPlas Callow St Ninians C 4

 

A very close match though this is not reflected in the final score. Both second level doubles went to Fencibles. Charlotte Watson was playing her first mixed match for St Ninians. First mens was a cracker between Brian Purdy and Ian Barnes of Fencibles against Michael Corlett and Alex Hewlett. The first game went to Fencibles 21/15 but the St Ninians youngsters clinched the second game 21/18. Experience then counted when Purdy and Barnes clinched the third 21/15. First womens went to St Ninians. All mixed went the way of Fencibles with the closest being second where Fencibles Barnes and Roberta Cannell beat Corlett and Kate Cowley 15/21 21/18 21/18.  RC.
