Prison continuing to thrive despite budget cuts

Thu, 19 Mar 2015

The Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson has praised the Island's prison for continuing to flourish despite continued budget cuts.

Minister Watterson revealed the extent of the cuts in the House of Keys recently, responding to a number of questions from Onchan MHK Zac Hall.

He says although levels of reoffending are in line with the UK it is a situation that needs improving over time.

One of the most shocking revelations was the level of cuts to education for the inmates.

We asked the Minister, does this not go against their rehabilitation message?
