An Andreas man who lost control on the Mountain Road has pleaded guilty to causing serious bodily harm to another road user.

24-year-old Christopher Wells appeared at Douglas Courthouse last week, where he admitted driving without due care and without consideration on October 11th last year.

The court heard how he was travelling from Ramsey to Douglas in his Renault Clio when he lost control at speed on the Mountain Mile.

He crossed the carriageway, travelling sideways with his wheels in a ditch - the front of his car then collided with a Skoda Octavia travelling in the opposite direction; causing severe impact damage.

The female passenger in the car suffered what were described as "very serious internal injuries" and had to have emergency surgery.

Wells was committed for sentence at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

He will next appear in court on April 27th.
