Fishing on Island continues to gain popularity

Fishing on the Isle of Man is flying high - as the Island gets ready to host a heat in an annual major sporting event.

That's according to Inland Fisheries manager Karan Galtress - as the annual Scierra Pairs Competition puts the Island centre stage for the first time next month.

Fishing here is gaining recognition in the UK for quality conditions - as government also encourages young Manx people to get involved.

School children have been trying out freshwater fishing as part of the School Sports Holiday Programme over Easter.

Karan says it's all part of a strategy to nurture growth on Island and overseas:
