Motorists urged to exercise caution on roads

Motorists are being urged to have patience when roads are closed - despite the numerous closures over the TT fortnight.

There have been three fatalities on open roads in the last two weeks, the number of serious crashes recorded has reached double figures. 

Police are warning that some riders' ability is being outweighed by their ego - earlier this week they reopened the Mountain Road after a crash, only to close it again nine minutes later.

PC Andy Greaves is a collision investigator with the Roads Policing Unit, he says he understands that road closures are an inconvenience but it's unavoidable:
