US prosecutor accused of causing serious harm to motorist

Wed, 17 Jun 2015

An American prosecutor who's accused of causing serious bodily harm to another motorist whilst on holiday here has had his case adjourned.

44-year-old Nathaniel Mendell, who is from Massachusetts, appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday.

He's charged with driving without due care and consideration - it follows a crash on June 8th on the A3 Main Road in Ballaugh in which a man was seriously injured.

The court heard how Mr Mendell's defence team has appointed experts who will now do their own investigations.

Mr Mendell has been bailed and is now allowed to return home to America where he is the chief prosecutor at the US Attorney's Office in Boston.

He will next appear in court on July 14th when pleas are expected to be entered.
