Suspended Attorney General awaiting government's next move

Fri, 03 Jul 2015

It's unclear when issues concerning the Island's suspended attorney general will be resolved.

Stephen Harding is currently off work on full pay - in February last year he was acquitted of charges of perjury and committing acts against public justice.

The suspension has been put in place whilst it's decided if disciplinary proceedings will go ahead.

This week the Chief Minister said although it was a protracted case it would be inappropriate to demand an "accelerated timetable" to resolve issues.

The Lieutenant Governor is responsible for processing matters and is said to be doing "everything that can be done" to expedite the matter.
