Last evening of the summer League – blessed with perfect weather

Perfect weather conditions led to some excellent scores on the final evening of the Isle of Man Shooting Clubs weekly series of matches. Sixteen shooters came to the firing line under the control of the Clubs Range Officer, Brian Fozard, for two of the three competitions of the evening, round 8 of the Osborn Carpets 2nd 600 and the Empire Garage Tynwald shield round 18. In the Osborn Carpets scratch match, the win went to Andy Potter posting 586 x 600 from John Wood in second on countback from Bill Jones, who it appears has finally found his mojo after some below par results. Two 100’s were scored during the match, one to Mike Clague, who appeared to be very disappointed with his scores and the second to Ashley Gardner.

Gardner takes the final round of the Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Handicap

Having not shot on a regular basis this season, Ashley Gardner was delighted to collect his medal with a win the final round of the Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Handicap. Gardner score of 604 was identical with fifteen year old Sam Jones, last week’s successful competitor in the penultimate round of this competition but Gardner’s lower handicap secured the win.

IoM Rifle Associations Drinkwater Cup goes Potters way

Just ten entered the third match of the evening, the Isle of Man Rifle Associations Drinkwater Cup, which was shot concurrently with the Osborn match. The win went to Andy Potter with 586 from John Wood on 583 and Ashley Gardner posting 582.

Christian claims the final round of the Sadler Junior Championship

Junior shooter, Illiam Christian added the final round of the Sadler Junior Championship to several other round wins throughout the summer and will no doubt, become a serious threat in the spring when the 2016 season commences.
