Government sending one hundred thousand to aid Syrian refugees

Thu, 10 Sep 2015

Syrian refugees will see structure in aid sent from the Isle of Man.

That's according to the chairman of government’s International Development Committee Phil Gawne.

In a coordinated approach, it will work with the One World Centre, other Isle of Man registered charities and the UK’s Disasters Emergency Committee.

£50,000 will be equally split with £10,000 each to the British Red Cross, Christian Aid, CAFOD, Oxfam and Save the Children.

The committee will also be providing £50,000 to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Mr Gawne says it won't go to waste:
