Hoverboard restrictions do not apply on Island

Thu, 15 Oct 2015

Earlier this week the Crown Prosecution Service revealed the self-balancing scooters, which are soaring in popularity, are illegal to ride in public in Britain.

They're prohibited from footways under the Highway Act of 1835 - however the Manx Government has confirmed there is no equivalent law on the Island.

It says whilst the Isle of Man Road Traffic Act prohibits "driving" a vehicle on a footway hoverboards are ridden and therefore are permitted.
