Teen to be sentenced for taunting police officer at funfair

Sat, 17 Oct 2015

A teenager who became abusive when he wasn't allowed into the funfair during TT will be sentenced next month.

Security staff working at the fair in Douglas refused to allow 19-year-old Paul Galbraith entry at around 11pm on June 9th due to a previous incident.

The Douglas man became abusive and started swearing - police were called and he began "taunting" one of the officers before pushing him into a fence.

Galbraith was restrained on the floor and transferred to a police van, knocking heads with another officer in the process- in the end they had to use PAVA spray to restrain him fully.

At Douglas Courthouse this week Galbraith pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and being drunk and disorderly - two charges of assaulting the officers were withdrawn.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before Galbraith is sentenced on November 17th
