Contingency plans will cover cost of storm clean-up

Contingency plans are in place to deal with the cost of cleaning up after the Island was battered by Storm Desmond.

The Chief Minister says funding will be made available to pay for repair work caused by the severe winds and heavy rain which first struck the Island last Thursday.

Laxey was one of the worst-hit areas with the bridge in the lower part of the village collapsing resulting in a double decker school bus falling into the river - thankfully no one was injured.

Allan Bell says the work of the emergency services and government workers has been "magnificent":
