Procedures were followed for bridge demolition says Minister

Work to demolish Laxey Bridge after severe flooding in December was carried out in line with government procedures.

That's the message from the Infrastructure Minister who says he's confident procurement processes were followed.

JCK was appointed to do the work - which included removing a stricken double decker bus - but Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer believes other companies should also have been asked.

Phil Gawne says due to the urgent nature of the work the department was allowed to ask a single contractor without debate or delay:
