Community service after indecent assault in club

Fri, 19 Feb 2016

A Douglas man who indecently assaulted a partygoer in a nightclub on his birthday has been ordered to pay £500 compensation to his victim.

25-year-old Damian Bartlomiejcazk touched the woman intimately, over her clothes, as he walked past her in the early hours of July 26th last year.

She reported the incident at The Courthouse to police and he was arrested and then convicted after trial.

Appearing at Douglas Courthouse for sentencing his advocate described it as a "one off" saying his behaviour was "out of character".

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it was a "particularly serious incident" but accepted it was due to his "intoxication" however she said it was clear he still didn't accept his guilt.

She also ordered him to carry out 100 hours of community service and pay prosecution costs of £750.
