Emergency services saved a man from drowning in Douglas Bay this morning.

Residents made a call after spotting the middle-aged man in distress shouting for help at around 9:18am.

PCs Dave Thommeny and Steve Gorry swam out to him with a life ring - the man was recovered and brought to shore.

An ambulance took him to Noble's Hospital where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit in a stable condition.
