Manx government speaks out on 'Panama Papers'

Wed, 06 Apr 2016

"The Isle of Man is not a place where criminals can find a welcome."

That's the statement government made to UK media in light of fresh attacks on offshore jurisdictions worldwide.

It follows the unauthorised breach of a server at the Mossack Fonseca and Co head office in Panama.

As a result, personal details relating to high-net-worth individuals have been leaked.

The Cabinet Office says it has 'robust' defences in place against 'corruption, tax evasion and money laundering', and is looking into additional measures.
