Public sector pensions motion held up in Tynwald

Tue, 19 Apr 2016

Reforming public sector pensions is being held up while Tynwald looks for consensus.

The debate was scheduled to take place in the house this week - but it's now been deferred until the June sitting.

It was found that members are 'uncomfortable' with proposals to address sustainability in the schemes.

Government, its employees and their unions have agreed on the terms following extensive negotiations.

Minister for Policy and Reform John Shimmin is moving the motion - he says its imperative everyone is on the same page.
