Vandals damage memorial for war dead

Mon, 16 May 2016

Vandals have destroyed a "cross of crosses" in Ramsey which was erected to mark the war dead.

It's believed youths targeted the memorial over Easter - details of the damage have only just been released by the town's commissioners and branch of the Royal British Legion.

The large green cross which was made up one thousand small wooden crosses - many of which had been personalised - was installed in 2014 to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.

Those responsible have snapped the crosses off and thrown them around the area of the Rotary Club Sensory Garden in Mooragh Park.
