More opposition to DOI prom plans

The Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is the latest group to raise concerns about the future of the horse trams. 
 
It's after the Department of Infrastructure submitted a new planning application - it's since been accused of planning to 'rip up' the tram tracks with no intention of replacing them. 
 
According to the society Douglas Promenade is defined as a conservation area because the character and appearance of which is 'desirable to preserve or enhance'.
 
Member Stuart Mullan says whilst it's appreciated that the department has taken on the service for now the group is opposing the plan because it doesn't believe there is provision for the future:
