Three adventurers from the Isle of Man are safely back on dry land after being taken hostage by knife wielding fishermen.

Chris Shimmin, Taz Ibrahim and Anthony Gullan were taking part in the Ngalawa Cup - a 500km sailing race along the coast of Tanzania; an event described as 'merciless' by organisers.

The team - which was raising money for Wish Upon A Dream - was in second place and had set up camp on a remote Island to fix a broken rudder when disaster struck.

An armed gang stole all their money, electronics and even their clothes before being spooked by a tourist boat arriving - the trio were then able to raise the alarm and get help; Chris says it was a scary experience:
