New government could relook at TV licence decision

It will be up to the next government administration to relook at the decision to charge elderly people on the Isle of Man for a TV licence.
 
That's the message from the Policy and Reform Minister who's responded to criticism of the plan to scrap the freebie for those aged 75 and above. 
 
From September 1st pensioners here will be made to pay the annual charge to watch television - however their UK counterparts will still receive the licence for free. 
 
John Shimmin has described delays in contact between the UK and Manx governments and the BBC as "frustrating" but says Tynwald Members did actually vote to get rid of the concession:
