Work begins on new healthcare residence for medical staff

Work has begun on a new accommodation block for medical staff working on the Isle of Man. 
 
The £2.2 million project on the Noble's Hospital estate in Strang will replace the old Nurses' Home on Westmoreland Road in Douglas. 
 
Yesterday the Health and Social Care Minister 'cut the sod' at the land where new townhouses - which will accommodate 48 residents - will be built.
 
The development will be known as the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust Residence - work is expected to be completed by September 2017. 
 
Tynwald granted approval for the project last month - Howard Quayle says we have to 'up our game' if we want to reduce our reliance on temporary staff:
