Teacher wants to see more women in Tynwald

Fri, 19 Aug 2016

A school teacher has put her name into the pot in Douglas East saying she strongly believes we need more women in Tynwald.

Amanda Walker has declared her intention to stand in the constituency at the upcoming General Election.

She says Douglas East is the most 'ethnically and socially diverse area of the Island' and says housing legislation needs to be considered to protect tenants and responsible landlords.

If elected she says she would hold regular surgeries so she can speak to people face to face saying she's 'wary of using social media' because of the 'damage' it can cause.
