Fire crews tackle blaze at Douglas restaurant

Fire crews spent the early hours of the morning tackling a fire at a restaurant in Douglas.

Officers from Douglas and Laxey were called out shortly before 3.30am to a blaze at Malabar on Regent Street.

Four fire appliances and an aerial ladder platform spent two hours at the scene, dealing with a fully-developed fire in the kitchen and venting the heavily smoke-logged building.

Members of the fire service remained at the scene afterwards to deal with hot spots before starting an investigation into the incident.
