Island's inflation rate increases

Fri, 07 Oct 2016

The Isle of Man's inflation rate increased last month.

The Consumer Prices Index climbed from -0.5% in August to 1.2% in September, giving a first positive figure since April 2015.

The Treasury says the rise is down to an increase in transport cost, as well as sports and fitness.

However, the cost of food and housing continued to fall over the last 12 months.

Meanwhile the retail prices index sits at 5.9%, up from 4.6% last month.
