The Rotary Club of Onchan is appealing for funds to help those recently affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.

The Caribbean nation was struck just six years after an earthquake that killed almost 10,000 people there.

The club wants to send Shelter Boxes to the area, which gives those left without homes a heavy duty tent and equipment to filter water.

The kit - which costs £500 - also includes household essentials such as candles, cooking equipment and a needle and thread.

The club has already donated £1,000 to Shelter Box to pay for two kits, but is keen to raise more funds.

Details of how to donate to the appeal can be found on the Rotary Club's Facebook page
