Students at the Island's schools will get a two-week break for TT during the 2018-19 academic year.

The Department of Education and Children publishes its term times several years in advance, and confirmed that schools will be closed for the entire fortnight in 2019.

The DEC hopes the longer break will minimise travel problems when the roads are closed for racing, while also allowing families to take a holiday during UK term time.

Practice week will be used for staff training, while examinations set by UK exam boards will also take place during the period.

Schools last took both weeks off in 2015, and will have just a one-week half term next year and in 2018.
