Sure have applied for planning permission to install an antenna to boost its mobile coverage in Governor's Hill.

The plan will include replacing a lamppost at the junction with Lakeside Road on Hailwood Avenue with one topped with an antenna as well as installing four cabinets containing electrical equipment.

In the application, Sure claim the positioning of the mast will improve reception for its customers in Governor's Hill, while also being as far away as possible from the two nearby schools.

The telecoms company says it's received over 500 complaints about its coverage on the estate over the last five years.

Manx Telecom recently had an application to build a mast to improve its Governor's Hill and Birch Hill coverage rejected.
