A Member of the Legislative Council says he's disappointed Douglas Council haven't released details about vacant local authority housing.

David Cretney has released details of an email exchange between himself and the council where he has asked about void properties, the turnover time for properties and the amount of time properties have been vacant for.

The council's director of housing and policy responded more than six weeks after receiving Mr Cretney's query, ensuring the former Douglas South MHK that work is being done to address the issue, but did not reveal the figures requested.

Mr Cretney described the response as very disappointing given that local authorities will soon be subject to the Freedom of Information Act.

The MLC now intends to ask questions in Tynwald to find out the figures.
